State revenue sees significant surge in first four months of 2025: CBSL

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) reports a significant increase in state revenue during the first four months of 2025.

Government revenue and grants rose from Rs. 1,218.07 billion in the same period in 2024 to Rs. 1,454.67 billion in 2025, marking a 19.42% growth.

A notable Rs. 463.19 billion in tax revenue was collected in April 2025 alone, partly due to the reopening of vehicle imports.

CBSL data also shows a primary account surplus of Rs. 532.73 billion by the end of April 2025.

Despite the revenue growth, the overall budget deficit stood at Rs. 261.61 billion for the first four months of the year.
