Meta, in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy and the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA), launched the Digital Government Day program to enhance the skills of media secretaries and representatives of state media institutions.

According to the President’s Media Division, this was the first workshop to provide practical training on effectively using digital platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads to communicate the government’s digital transformation journey.

The sessions were conducted by Kaiya Waddell (Director of Government & Social Impact, APAC), Neha Mathur (Partner Manager, Government & Social Impact), Dr. Priyanka Bhalla (Safety Policy Manager, South Asia), and Senura Abeywardena (Head of Public Policy, Central Asia, Mongolia, Sri Lanka & Maldives).

Discussions focused on key themes, including:

  • Maximising reach and impact in digital transformation journeys.
  • Best practices for community building.
  • Engaging citizens through storytelling, reels, and emerging digital formats.

Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne, Ministry Consultant Sumudu Ratnayake, and Director of Electronic Media at the President’s Media Division Isuru Anuradha also attended the event, underscoring the government’s commitment to strengthening digital communication.
