SriLankan Airlines has announced an increase in its Colombo–Melbourne service from seven to ten weekly flights, effective August 2, 2026, adding three new frequencies on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
With this expansion, the airline’s total operations between Sri Lanka and Australia will rise to 14 weekly flights, including its existing services to Sydney.
The additional flights will operate as UL608, departing Colombo at 14:10 hrs and arriving in Melbourne at 04:30 hrs the following day, while the return service UL609 will depart Melbourne at 06:00 hrs on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Mondays, arriving in Colombo at 12:15 hrs.
The current daily service UL604 and UL605 will continue unchanged, maintaining regular connectivity between the two cities.
SriLankan Airlines stated that the increase in frequency is driven by growing demand from leisure travellers, the Sri Lankan diaspora in Australia, and students following Australian academic schedules.
The expansion is also expected to strengthen Colombo’s position as a transit hub, particularly for Indian passengers travelling to Melbourne via Sri Lanka.
Australia has been identified as one of the fastest-growing inbound tourism markets for Sri Lanka, further supporting the airline’s decision to enhance capacity on this route.
