SriLankan Airlines suspends all flights from Colombo to Lahore

All flights from Sri Lanka to Lahore, Pakistan have been suspended until further notice due to safety concerns, SriLankan Airlines announced.

A spokesperson confirmed the decision to Ada Derana, following escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

Earlier today, a blast was reported in Pakistan’s eastern city of Lahore, as confirmed by Reuters, adding to fears of further conflict after recent Indian strikes at multiple locations in Pakistan.

The Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) stated that flight operations at Lahore and Sialkot airports have been temporarily halted and will remain unavailable until 12 noon today.

Passengers have been advised to stay in contact with their respective airlines for updates.

In addition, the PAA announced that flight operations at Karachi and Islamabad airports were also suspended until 12 noon today due to operational reasons and growing security threats.

The measures come amid heightened fears of potential airspace violations by Indian forces, according to Pakistani authorities.
