SriLankan airlines celebrates women in command on women’s day

Flight UL 404 to Bangkok took off with an all-female crew, led by Captain Madini Wijesinghe, marking a significant milestone for SriLankan Airlines in celebrating International Women’s Day.

The eight-member crew demonstrated exceptional skill and professionalism, showcasing the airline’s commitment to empowering women in aviation. The flight, which carried 130 passengers, departed from Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo and arrived in Bangkok, underscoring the airline’s ongoing efforts to promote gender equality within the industry.

The crew also made their return journey to Colombo on the same day, emphasizing SriLankan Airlines’ progressive stance in empowering women in traditionally male-dominated fields. The special flight highlighted the capabilities and professionalism of female staff across all key roles, from the cockpit to the cabin, reflecting the airline’s dedication to fostering female leadership in aviation.

Captain Wijesinghe expressed pride in leading the all-female crew, stating, “It is an incredible honour to lead such a dedicated and talented team. This flight is a testament to the outstanding capabilities of SriLankan Airlines’ female staff and our shared commitment to excellence in the aviation industry.
