
Sri Lanka’s javelin star Rumesh Tharanga delivered a sensational performance in Nairobi, winning the gold medal with a new meet record at the Kip Keino Classic after a massive throw of 89.28 metres.
He outshone a world-class field that included Olympic champion Thomas Röhler of Germany and Olympic silver medallist as well as world champion Julius Yego of Kenya.
The achievement marks Tharanga’s second throw beyond 89 metres within the last 30 days, highlighting his consistency at the elite international level. His recent performances have firmly established him as one of the standout javelin throwers of the season.
