Sri Lanka’s rooftop solar capacity exceeds 1,700 MW milestone

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has announced a significant achievement in renewable energy, with Sri Lanka surpassing 1,700 megawatts of installed rooftop solar capacity nationwide.

In a statement released on 1st of May 2025, the state-owned power utility said this milestone reflects the country’s ongoing shift toward sustainable energy solutions.

The CEB highlighted the increasing participation of households, businesses, and institutions in adopting solar energy and expressed appreciation to all solar producers for their vital role in this green energy transition.
