
Sri Lanka received USD 680.8 million in workers’ remittances in August 2025, according to the latest data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).
This brings the total remittances for the period from January to August 2025 to USD 5.116 billion, representing a 19.3% increase compared to USD 4.28 billion during the same period last year.
Meanwhile, official figures show that tourism earnings have exceeded USD 2 billion in the first eight months of 2025. Total tourism revenue for this period reached USD 2.03 billion, up 7.8% from USD 1.88 billion recorded during the same period in 2024.
