
Sri Lanka’s export sector recorded significant growth in the first half of 2025, with total earnings reaching USD 8.33 billion, marking a 6.7% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to the Export Development Board (EDB).
This growth was driven by strong performances in both merchandise and services exports. In June alone, exports brought in USD 1.46 billion, representing an 8.73% year-on-year increase.
Merchandise exports in June 2025 totaled USD 1.15 billion, showing a 6.85% rise from June 2024.
Between January and June, merchandise exports amounted to USD 6.5 billion, a 5.86% increase from the previous year.
Services exports also saw notable progress, with June figures estimated at USD 309.61 million—an increase of 16.38% compared to the same month in 2024.
Overall, services exports in the first half of 2025 reached approximately USD 1.83 billion, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 9.78%.
