Sri Lankans can now travel visa-free to 42 destinations – full list released

Sri Lankan citizens can now enjoy greater global mobility, with visa-free or simplified entry into 42 countries and territories, according to the latest Henley Passport Index 2025.

The Sri Lankan passport has climbed five spots in the global rankings, now placing 91st alongside Iran. This marks a significant improvement in travel freedom, as the index ranks passports based on the number of destinations accessible without a pre-departure visa.

Under current arrangements, Sri Lankans can enter various countries either visa-free, with a visa on arrival (VOA), or through electronic travel authorization (ETA). These measures aim to ease the travel process, cutting down on paperwork and delays for tourism or business purposes.

A large portion of the accessible destinations are in Asia, the Pacific, and Africa, while several are located in the Caribbean and the Americas, offering Sri Lankan travellers a diverse array of experiences.

Here’s the full list of 42 destinations accessible without a pre-departure visa:

  • Caribbean & Americas: Bahamas, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Haiti, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis (ETA), St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Bolivia (VOA)
  • Africa: Burundi (VOA), Cape Verde Islands (VOA), Comoro Islands (VOA), Djibouti (VOA), Guinea-Bissau (VOA), Kenya (ETA), Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius (VOA), Mozambique (VOA), Rwanda, Seychelles (ETA), Sierra Leone (VOA), Somalia (VOA), Gambia
  • Asia & Pacific: Cambodia (VOA), Cook Islands, Kiribati, Laos (VOA), Maldives (VOA), Micronesia, Nepal (VOA), Niue, Palau Islands (VOA), Samoa (VOA), Singapore, Tajikistan, Thailand, Timor-Leste (VOA), Tuvalu (VOA), Vanuatu
