A Sri Lankan national has been arrested at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake, for attempting to illegally bring in a large consignment of foreign-made cigarettes.
The suspect arrived from Dubai in the early hours of this morning, according to airport authorities.
A search of his luggage uncovered 20,700 foreign-manufactured cigarettes along with several electronic cigarettes.
The total value of the seized items is estimated at Rs. 3.65 million.
