A Sri Lanka national allegedly exposed himself after assaulting two members of staff at a hotel used to accommodate asylum seekers, a court in the United Kingdom has heard.

Sukirthan Thangrasha is currently on trial at Portsmouth Crown Court on a charge of exposure following the incident that reportedly occurred at Highfield House Hotel on August 15, 2025.
During the trial, the jury was informed that the 38-year-old defendant, who was assisted in court by a Tamil interpreter, had previously pleaded guilty to two charges of assault against members of staff at the accommodation facility.
Prosecutor Jack Furness told the court that the accused was staying at the asylum seekers’ accommodation at the time of the incident. He allegedly went to the reception area in an agitated state, complaining that his mobile phone was not working.
According to the prosecution, Thangrasha verbally abused staff members and demanded that they fix his phone, before throwing the device at the reception desk. It was also alleged that he made remarks referring to his nationality while confronting the staff.
The court heard that when employees attempted to calm him down, the defendant approached a plant pot and tried to pull the plant out. He then pulled down his trousers, initially leaving his underwear on while lifting his shirt and walking around the reception area.
Although staff asked him to stop and he briefly pulled his trousers back up, prosecutors said he later pulled down both his trousers and underwear again, exposing himself to several people present in the area.
