
A discussion took place between Iranian Ambassador Dr. Alireza Delkhosh and Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath, focusing on recent regional developments.
Foreign Minister Herath stated via a post on ‘X’ that the conversation addressed the ceasefire between Israel and Iran.
He emphasized the critical role of continued diplomatic engagement in securing peace and stability in the Middle East.
The Minister warned that any escalation of the conflict could have serious consequences for the entire region, including Sri Lanka.
He also informed the Iranian Ambassador about the precautionary steps taken by the Sri Lankan government to safeguard its citizens currently residing in Iran.
Minister Herath welcomed the ceasefire announcement and reiterated Sri Lanka’s support for diplomatic solutions to regional tensions.
