SriLankan Airlines has confirmed that one of its flights bound for Singapore was delayed today (3rd of May) due to a special security inspection conducted at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
According to the airline, Flight UL 122, operated by aircraft 4R-ALS, arrived in Colombo from Chennai at 11:59 a.m. and was subjected to a full security check following an alert from the Chennai Area Control Centre.
The alert was issued in connection with a suspect wanted in India who was believed to be on board the flight.
Acting on this intelligence, a special search operation was launched at BIA.
Police Spokesperson stated that the information indicated six individuals suspected of involvement in the recent Pahalgam terror attack may have been on the flight from Chennai.
Following a thorough inspection, the aircraft was cleared for further operations.
However, as a result of the mandatory security procedures, the aircraft’s next scheduled flight—UL 308 to Singapore—was delayed.
