Sri Lankan envoys to Lebanon and Malaysia assume duties

Sri Lanka has appointed two senior diplomats as heads of mission to Lebanon and Malaysia, with both envoys recently assuming their duties.

Ambassador-designate to Lebanon, Anura Withanage, assumed duties at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Beirut on Monday (06). He pledged to strengthen bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Lebanon while improving services for the Sri Lankan community living there.

Addressing embassy staff, Withanage expressed appreciation for their dedication during a challenging period in Lebanon and emphasised the importance of continued commitment in advancing diplomatic relations.

Meanwhile, High Commissioner-designate to Malaysia, Dharshana M. Perera, assumed duties at the Sri Lankan High Commission in Kuala Lumpur on 31 March.

He highlighted the need to further enhance relations between Sri Lanka and Malaysia across political, economic and cultural sectors, while also strengthening support services for Sri Lankans residing in Malaysia. He urged the staff to align their work with the government’s broader goal of boosting international engagement and delivering benefits to the people.
