Sri Lankan duo caught smuggling currency in India

CISF personnel at Kempegowda International Airport in India arrested three passengers, including two Sri Lankan nationals, for attempting to smuggle foreign currency worth Rs 2.12 crore.

The suspects were identified as Sri Lankans Vimalraj Thuraisingam and Thileepan Jayanthikumar, along with Indian national Veera Kumar.

Their suspicious behavior was first noticed by Vishal Kumar from the CISF’s Crime and Intelligence Wing, prompting an investigation.

Upon further probe, authorities seized a substantial amount of foreign currency, including Euros, US Dollars, and Rials, from their possession. The Enforcement Directorate has taken the accused into custody for further investigation.

Officials are now examining the source of the currency and whether the suspects are linked to a larger smuggling network.
