A Sri Lanka Tourism promotion event was successfully held in Dhaka in April, featuring a Media Networking Session, a B2B Roadshow, and a Tour Operators Networking Evening. The programme, organized by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau in collaboration with the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Dhaka, took place from April 5–6, 2026 at Le Méridien Dhaka.

The event brought together key tourism stakeholders from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, strengthening professional ties and opening new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries. The Media Networking Session created a platform for journalists and industry representatives to engage in meaningful discussions, highlighting the important role of media in promoting tourism and showcasing investment opportunities.
The B2B Roadshow and Networking Evening connected tour operators, travel agents, and industry leaders, encouraging partnerships and boosting business-to-business engagement. These interactions are expected to help increase tourist exchanges between the two nations.
Officials noted that tour operators and travel agents play a crucial role in shaping travel experiences, promoting destinations, and facilitating smooth travel. They also help expand various tourism segments, including leisure, cultural, wellness, and business travel.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh share strong historical and cultural ties, with tourism emerging as a key sector in strengthening relations. Sri Lanka continues to gain popularity among Bangladeshi travellers, with over 59,000 visitors recorded in 2025.
Despite this growth, authorities believe there is still significant potential to further expand tourism between the two countries. Improved air connectivity and stronger collaboration among stakeholders are expected to unlock new opportunities in tourism, trade, and investment.
The event saw participation from leading industry partners, including SriLankan Airlines, FitsAir, and major tourism associations from both countries.
