Sri Lanka has welcomed more than 1.2 million international tourists so far in 2026, marking strong growth in the tourism sector.

SLTDA data shows 1,217,956 visitors arrived in the country during the year up to mid-July.
A total of 71,383 tourists visited Sri Lanka within the first 12 days of July alone.
India continues to be the largest source market, leading tourist arrivals to the island.
The increase reflects a successful peak travel season and growing global interest in Sri Lanka.
Tourism authorities expect visitor numbers to continue rising as the country strengthens its travel industry.
