Sri Lanka to train and certify 10,000 three-wheeler drivers serving tourists

The Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat has announced the launch of special training programs for three-wheeler drivers who transport tourists across the country.

Additional Secretary to the President, S.P.C. Sugeeshwara, said that tourists visiting Sri Lanka often face a lack of proper facilities and that shortcomings can also be observed among some service providers. Using transport as an example, he noted that tourists have at times been unfairly overcharged, causing inconvenience and damaging Sri Lanka’s international image.

As a solution, Sugeeshwara explained that training programs have been designed for those working in the tourism sector. In the first phase, 10,000 three-wheeler drivers serving tourists across the island have been selected to undergo training. Upon completion, they will be awarded official certification.
