The Central Environmental Authority (CEA) has initiated the installation of an advanced air quality monitoring device in Colombo to accurately measure key atmospheric pollutants.

This project, supported with technical assistance from the Government of France, is part of a broader effort to improve and manage air quality in Sri Lanka.

The device will be strategically located near the Colombo Fort area and is capable of detecting six major air pollutants with precision.

Data collected from the device will be used to assess and enhance air quality standards nationwide.

For the first time, the public will have real-time access to air quality data through a newly developed online platform, promoting transparency and greater awareness of environmental conditions.
