Sri Lanka has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Government of India for its timely assistance in evacuating Sri Lankan nationals from Iran, alongside Indian citizens.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that this act of solidarity highlights the strong and longstanding partnership between Sri Lanka and India, and is deeply valued by the Sri Lankan people.
The Embassy of India in Tehran had earlier announced its support in facilitating the evacuation of both Sri Lankan and Nepalese nationals from Iran.
