Sri Lanka is experiencing a remarkable tourism surge this February, with 80,776 visitors arriving in the first nine days of the month, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA). The country’s lush landscapes, golden southern beaches, and misty central highlands are drawing travelers from around the globe, making the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean” a key destination on international travel lists.
India remains the largest source market, contributing 12,439 visitors—or 15% of arrivals—while the United Kingdom follows with 9,283 tourists. European and Asian markets are also recovering strongly, with Russia sending 6,946 visitors, Germany 5,401, and China 5,037 tourists during this period. Year-to-date international arrivals for 2026 have already reached 358,103, with India (65,500), the UK (38,823), and Russia (34,080) leading the totals.
The tourism boom reflects more than just numbers—it highlights Sri Lanka’s cultural richness, from ancient ruins and tea plantations to luxury city experiences.
