
The Sri Lankan rupee depreciated by 5.6 per cent against the US dollar in 2025, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).
CBSL data show that by the end of trading yesterday, the buying rate of the US dollar stood at Rs. 306.29, while the selling rate was Rs. 313.83.
In comparison, on December 31, 2024, the US dollar was bought at Rs. 288.32 and sold at Rs. 297.01, reflecting the year-on-year weakening of the local currency.
