Sri Lanka welcomed 124,551 tourists in June 2026, recording a 9.9 percent decline compared to the 138,241 arrivals registered in June 2025.

The decrease comes after a 9.6 percent increase in tourist arrivals recorded in May, indicating a slowdown in the sector’s recent growth momentum.

According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), the country attracted 1,146,573 visitors during the first six months of 2026.

India remained Sri Lanka’s largest source market in June, accounting for 43,423 arrivals, or 35 percent of the total visitors.

The United Kingdom ranked second with 10,474 tourists, followed by Australia with 8,710, China with 8,224, and the United States with 3,806 arrivals.

France, Germany, Bangladesh, the Maldives, and Canada also remained among the leading source markets, contributing significantly to Sri Lanka’s tourism industry during the month.
