The Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Sri Lanka, Semih Lütfü Turgut, has stated that Sri Lanka has strong potential to emerge as a high-performing nation on the global stage by prioritising innovation and effectively leveraging its natural advantages.
Referring to lessons from global history, Ambassador Turgut noted that many successful countries have achieved remarkable progress by “punching above their weight” through the strategic use of their comparative strengths.
He emphasised that innovation acts as a powerful multiplier, enabling smaller nations to amplify their capabilities and compete globally. The Ambassador also highlighted Sri Lanka’s strategic geographic location, rich cultural heritage, and growing entrepreneurial spirit as key assets that could drive the country toward a breakthrough phase of economic growth and development.
