Sri Lanka has been placed 93rd out of 101 countries in the 2026 Henley Passport Index, reflecting a decline in the number of destinations accessible to Sri Lankan passport holders without a prior visa.
Singapore retained the top spot for the third consecutive year, with its citizens enjoying visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 192 destinations. Japan and South Korea followed in second place, while Denmark and Luxembourg shared third position with access to 188 and 186 destinations respectively.
Afghanistan ranked last at 101st place, with passport holders able to access only 24 countries, continuing its long-standing position at the bottom of the index.
Compared to last year, Sri Lanka improved its overall ranking from 96th to 93rd, but the number of visa-free destinations fell from 44 to 39. Only 11 countries rank below Sri Lanka in the latest index.
Despite the drop in access, the Sri Lankan passport still ranks higher than those of several SAARC countries, including Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
The Henley Passport Index assesses global passports based on the number of destinations their holders can enter without obtaining a visa in advance.
