Sri Lanka has ranked 33rd globally for the ease of obtaining visas, enhancing Colombo’s reputation as a leading destination in South Asia and boosting the country’s competitiveness as a tourist spot, according to Brand Finance.
The introduction of visa-free entry for nationals from 35 countries has likely played a significant role in increasing the city’s appeal, making it one of the easiest South Asian cities to visit, Brand Finance noted in a recent press release.
Despite this achievement, Colombo saw a decline in the Brand Finance Global City Index, dropping to 84th place from 78th last year, reflecting a 4.9-point decrease.
However, Colombo’s classification as a ‘Growth Hub’ underscores its potential as a developing city with regional influence, joining other emerging cities like Karachi, Dhaka, and Ho Chi Minh City in this category.
