Sri Lanka introduces Digital Nomad Visa to attract remote workers

Foreign nationals who wish to live and work remotely from Sri Lanka can now apply for the Digital Nomad Visa (DNV).

The introduction of Digital Nomad Visas aims to position Sri Lanka as a preferred long-stay destination for remote workers, contributing to the national economy through extended stays, tourism expenditure, and global knowledge exchange.

Eligible applicants include foreign nationals aged 18 and above. Spouses and dependents of the main applicant are also eligible to apply.

Applicants must be engaged in remote employment, freelancing, or own a business that serves clients outside Sri Lanka. A minimum monthly income remittance of USD 2,000 is required for the main applicant, with an additional USD 500 per month for each dependent if the number of dependents exceeds two.

The visa is valid for one year, and a fee of USD 500 must be paid at the time of application. For more information and to access application forms, applicants are encouraged to visit the official website at www.immigration.gov.lk.
