Sri Lanka has expressed “grave concern” over the recent escalation of hostilities in the West Asian region, including attacks targeting critical energy infrastructure, warning that such developments threaten regional stability and ongoing peace efforts.
In a statement issued today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism said the safety and wellbeing of Sri Lankan nationals living in the region remain a matter of paramount concern.
The Ministry also emphasised the importance of protecting civilians, civilian infrastructure, and global supply chains, while urging all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and engage in dialogue to reduce tensions.
“Sri Lanka remains committed to supporting all efforts aimed at restoring peace and security in the region and ensuring a conducive environment for international trade,” the statement added.
