
The Egyptian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Adel Ibrahim, paid a courtesy call on Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Sampath Thuyacontha on 27th of May .
The meeting took place at the Ministry of Defence in Sri Jayawardenepura, Kotte.
The Defence Secretary warmly welcomed the ambassador and engaged in a cordial discussion on strengthening bilateral relations.
The talks focused on enhancing defence cooperation, especially through academic and professional exchanges via the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC).
Both sides explored collaboration in defence education, capacity building, and international military training programs.
They highlighted the importance of the DSCSC’s international collaboration study package in fostering understanding among partner nations.
Ambassador Ibrahim expressed Egypt’s keen interest in deepening defence ties with Sri Lanka.
The Defence Secretary appreciated Egypt’s ongoing support and reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to closer cooperation.
The meeting ended positively, with both countries pledging to explore more opportunities for defence collaboration.
