Sri Lanka Customs has recorded its highest-ever monthly revenue in July, collecting Rs. 235 billion, according to Director General Sunil Nonis.

Speaking at the launch of a new customs record and notification system on Thursday, Nonis described the July revenue as a historic milestone for the institution.

“In 2023, surpassing Rs. 100 billion in a single month was considered a major achievement. Today, we have reached Rs. 235 billion,” he said.

The Director General explained that the newly introduced system was developed to provide greater convenience for importers and exporters, with the goal of further enhancing the department’s efficiency and performance.

He added that vehicle imports contributed the largest share of the income, playing a key role in achieving the record revenue.
