Sri Lanka climbs global corruption rankings with improved standing

Sri Lanka has recorded an improvement in Transparency International’s Global Corruption Index 2025, climbing from 121st place to 107th out of 182 countries.

The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), one of the world’s most widely used measures of perceived public sector corruption, evaluates countries based on assessments by experts and business leaders.

According to the latest report, Sri Lanka’s score increased from 32 in 2024 to 35 in 2025, reflecting a positive change of three points.

Transparency International noted that the improved ranking signals progress in public sector accountability, although continued efforts are required to sustain long-term anti-corruption reforms.
