
The Numbeo research institute has released a list of the 10 most dangerous countries in the world, based on public perceptions of crime.
According to the index, Venezuela, Papua New Guinea, Haiti, Afghanistan, and South Africa are ranked among the top five most dangerous countries.
Australia is ranked 67th, while Sri Lanka is ranked 89th in the crime index.
In contrast, the report also lists the safest countries in the world, with Andorra, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Taiwan, and Oman among the top five.
In this safety ranking, Sri Lanka is positioned at 59th place, and Australia at 82nd.
