The Sri Lanka Army honoured the composers of the Army Song at a special ceremony held at Army Headquarters on 6 March 2026.
Those recognised included Ven. Rambukkana Siddhartha Thero, the lyricist; Victor Rathnayake, the music composer; and Major General S.D. Thennakoon, the senior officer who conceptualised and coordinated the Army Song.
The Army Song was originally released on 10 October 1999 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army.
Lasantha Rodrigo, Commander of the Army, attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest.
