
The Ministry of Digital Economy of Sri Lanka and AI Singapore (AISG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on AI collaboration on 28th of July at the National University of Singapore’s Kent Ridge campus.
The MoU was signed by Laurence Liew, Director of AI Innovation at AI Singapore, and Senarath Dissanayake, Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Singapore, representing the Government of Sri Lanka.
This partnership marks a significant step in Sri Lanka’s digital transformation journey and is expected to enhance the nation’s AI capabilities in line with global best practices in AI governance.
Through this collaboration, Sri Lanka aims to strengthen cooperation in areas such as advisory support, knowledge exchange, and AI capacity building, aligning with its vision of becoming a Digitally Inclusive Nation.
The signing also coincides with the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Singapore, highlighting the deepening ties between the two countries in innovation and digital development.
Laurence Liew reaffirmed Singapore’s commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s digital ambitions, stating that AI Singapore is pleased to share its experience and frameworks with a like-minded partner.
He added that the collaboration reflects Singapore’s confidence in the transformative power of AI and the value of international cooperation in driving inclusive technological progress.
