Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath says discussions have been held with New Zealand Cricket Deputy Chair Kevin Malloy on strengthening cricketing ties between the two countries.

During a luncheon meeting held on Friday, the two sides discussed plans to mark the upcoming 100th anniversary of cricket relations between Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in cricket development, including player training opportunities, capacity-building programmes for officials, and the possibility of establishing a cricket academy in Sri Lanka.
Minister Herath described the meeting as productive, noting that it reflected the strong and longstanding sporting relationship between the two nations.
The talks come as Sri Lanka and New Zealand prepare to celebrate a century of cricketing ties while exploring new avenues for future collaboration in the sport.
