
Seven Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) have been signed between Sri Lanka and the Maldives during the state visit of President Mohamed Muizzu, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
The agreements cover key areas including tourism, education, higher education, health, sports, youth development, archives, and defence, highlighting efforts to deepen ties between the two nations.
An official state reception for President Muizzu, who arrived in Sri Lanka on May 4 for a three-day visit, was held today at the Presidential Secretariat Colombo, where the formal welcome ceremony took place.
Following the ceremony, President Muizzu and Anura Kumara Dissanayake issued a joint media statement outlining the outcomes of their bilateral discussions.
President Muizzu, who assumed office in 2023, is scheduled to remain in Sri Lanka until May 6, marking his first official visit to the country.
Meanwhile, police have announced that a special traffic management plan will be in effect in and around Colombo until May 6 to facilitate the state visit.
