Sri Lanka and France have successfully concluded the second round of bilateral political consultations, held virtually, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation across a range of key sectors.

The discussions were co-chaired by Sugeeshwara Gunaratna and Benoit Guidee, with both sides reviewing progress in political relations, maritime and defence cooperation, trade, tourism, development, education, and people-to-people exchanges.

Sri Lanka expressed its appreciation to France for the humanitarian assistance provided following Cyclone Ditwah, while both countries welcomed the continued growth of French investments and tourism in Sri Lanka.

The consultations also focused on maritime cooperation, climate change, and sustainable ocean governance, with both nations reaffirming their commitment to working together through the United Nations and other multilateral platforms on issues of mutual interest and global importance.
