
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment Arun Hemachandra met yesterday in Brussels, Belgium, with the Director for Asia and the Pacific at the Directorate-General for International Partnerships of the European Commission.
The meeting focused on Sri Lanka’s ongoing development trajectory and explored opportunities under the European Union’s Global Gateway initiative.
The EU official expressed positive views on Sri Lanka’s recent progress, noting growing stability in the country and improved predictability in national governance and economic management.
Deputy Minister Hemachandra reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to transparent governance, rule-based institutions, and responsible reforms aimed at strengthening international confidence.
Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation in key areas, including sustainable infrastructure, digital connectivity, renewable energy, skills development, and people-centred economic growth.
