Sri Lanka and Belarus have signed a bilateral Air Services Agreement aimed at strengthening air connectivity between the two countries.

The agreement was signed by Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath and Belarus Transport Minister Alexei Lyakhnovich during Herath’s official visit to Minsk.
During the visit, Minister Herath also called on Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, where discussions focused on further strengthening the longstanding friendship between the two nations and developing a roadmap for cooperation in areas including trade, industry, agriculture, education, and people-to-people ties.
Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations as they mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
Minister Herath also held bilateral discussions with Belarus Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov, during which both sides agreed to expand cooperation across political, economic, educational, cultural, and social sectors.
The two countries further agreed to hold regular political consultations and convene the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation later this year.
Sri Lanka and Belarus established diplomatic relations 25 years ago, a milestone both governments say reflects a strong and longstanding partnership built on mutual cooperation.
