

Sri Lanka and Antigua and Barbuda have officially established diplomatic relations following the signing of an agreement in Washington D.C.

The agreement was signed on 3rd of October 2025, by Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the United States, Mahinda Samarasinghe, and Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to the United States, Sir Ronald Sanders.
Both nations expressed confidence that this milestone would pave the way for stronger cooperation in political, socio-economic, and cultural fields, benefiting the peoples of both countries.
A joint announcement regarding the establishment of ties was released by Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism in Colombo, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Barbuda Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda in Saint John’s.
