The Police have announced plans for a nationwide special traffic operation starts Today, targeting passenger buses and other vehicles.
The primary focus will be on inspecting public passenger buses, with particular attention given to ensuring drivers are not under the influence of alcohol or other substances.
Additionally, action will be taken against buses that are driven recklessly, at high speeds, violate road rules, or operate with faulty tires or other technical defects.
The operation will also include checks on other vehicles, with traffic officers deployed island-wide for 24-hour surveillance.
The public is encouraged to report unsafe or negligent driving, including violations involving buses and other vehicles, by calling the hotline numbers 119 and 1997. They can also contact their local police station or reach out to designated traffic officers in their area.
