Deputy Minister of Fisheries Rathna Gamage said that all construction, removal, and excavation activities along the southern coastal tourist zone will be temporarily suspended during the tourist season.
He stated that instructions have been issued to complete all types of construction work in coastal areas, including Unawatuna, Rumassala, Yaddehimulla, Mihiripenna, Habaraduwa, Kathaluwa, and Ahangama, ahead of the tourist season in order to prevent inconvenience to visitors and protect the coastal environment.
The Deputy Minister added that relevant authorities have been directed to prepare a centralized annual plan at the beginning of each year to ensure a coordinated approach, allowing all construction, removal, excavation, and city beautification work to be completed before the tourist season commences.
