South Korean president arrested

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has been arrested on charges of imposing martial law and attempting to incite rebellion last December.

The arrest was carried out by South Korea’s anti-corruption agency, according to foreign media reports.

previous attempt to arrest President Yoon earlier this month was unsuccessful.

On 14th of January, legal proceedings were initiated to remove President Yoon from office, and efforts to extend his arrest warrant were also made.

The arrest took place at the official residence of the President.

Yoon Suk Yeol is now regarded as the first South Korean president to be arrested while in office.
