Sri Lanka’s Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation, Anura Karunathilake, is set to visit India from October 27 to 28, 2025, to participate in the Indian Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, the Indian High Commission in Colombo announced today.
Organized by India’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, the event will take place at the Bombay Exhibition Center and is expected to bring together global maritime leaders, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to discuss port infrastructure, logistics, and sustainable maritime growth.
During his visit, Minister Karunathilake will hold bilateral discussions with his Indian counterpart, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, aimed at strengthening cooperation in port development, shipping, and logistics. He is also expected to attend the ministerial plenary session and meet key figures from the maritime and industrial sectors. Several site visits have been planned as part of his official program.
According to the High Commission, the Indian Maritime Week—scheduled from October 27 to 31—will serve as a key platform for international collaboration, modernization of port operations, and attracting global investment in the maritime sector.
The participation of Minister Karunathilake, it added, underscores the growing economic partnership between Sri Lanka and India and their shared commitment to advancing cooperation in trade, logistics, and infrastructure development.
