Sri Lanka’s first cable car project is set to complete its first phase by October this year, according to recent reports.
The update was revealed during Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong’s visit to Ambuluwawa, Gampola, on 23rd of March where he inspected the project and met with Ambuluwawa Trust Chairman and MP Anuradha Jayaratne.
MP Jayaratne highlighted that the project, whose feasibility study was completed 18 years ago, is now progressing due to investments from Chinese and American partners.
He also announced plans to extend the cable car service to Gampola Railway Station, allowing foreign tourists traveling to Nuwara Eliya to enjoy a scenic cable car ride to Ambuluwawa.
The project spans 1.8 km, connecting the Ambuluwawa Religious and Biodiversity Complex to the summit of Ambuluwawa Hill and the Ambuluwawa Agrarian Tower.
