Namal Rajapaksa, National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), stated that the party is committed to moving forward by learning from past mistakes, emphasizing the importance of reflection, cultural preservation, and youth empowerment.

He made these remarks while addressing the media after participating in Sinhala and Tamil New Year rituals at Carlton House today (15), where he also extended his festive greetings to the public.
Rajapaksa noted that the Sinhala and Tamil New Year represents a shared cultural heritage that should be protected and passed on to future generations, especially during a time when the country is facing significant challenges.
Expressing optimism, he said Sri Lanka can overcome its current difficulties through unity, resilience, and a positive mindset.
He stressed that acknowledging past mistakes is essential for progress, adding that society must learn from errors while continuing to uphold its cultural values and traditions.
Highlighting the role of youth, Rajapaksa underscored the need to guide and empower the younger generation, noting growing concerns over declining trust in them.
Referring to periods of unrest in the country’s history, he said isolated incidents should not define the entire youth population, urging society to recognize their potential instead.
He further stated that Sri Lanka’s future depends on harnessing the talents of young people and strengthening national unity to build a better and more stable path forward.
