
SLINEX 24, the 2024 India-Sri Lanka bilateral naval exercise, was conducted from 17th to 20th December in Visakhapatnam under the Indian Navy’s Eastern Naval Command.
The exercise comprised two phases: the Harbour Phase (17th–18th December) and the Sea Phase (19th–20thDecember).
India was represented by INS Sumitra and a Special Forces team, while Sri Lanka participated with SLNS Sayura and its Special Forces contingent.
The Harbour Phase included an inaugural ceremony on 17th of December, followed by professional exchanges and social engagements between the two navies.
The Sea Phase featured joint Special Forces operations, gun firings, communication drills, seamanship exercises, navigation activities, and helicopter operations.
Initiated in 2005, SLINEX has strengthened maritime cooperation and supported India’s SAGAR vision, fostering a secure and rule-based maritime environment.
