SLCERT warns public to exercise caution in online buying and selling amid rising scams

The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT) has reported a rise in financial fraud cases involving individuals falsely claiming to sell goods online.

Nirosh Ananda, Chief Information Security Engineer at SLCERT, advised the public to verify accurate and reliable information about any organization before placing online orders.

He also noted that recent complaints have involved fraud related to providing financial assistance to people affected by disasters.

SLCERT has urged the public to remain vigilant when buying or selling goods online to avoid falling victim to such scams.
