SL signs bilateral amendment agreement with JICA

Sri Lanka has signed a Bilateral Amendment Agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) along with an Exchange of Notes between the Governments of Sri Lanka and Japan concerning the External Debt Restructuring Process.

The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Finance in Colombo.

Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Finance Secretary, Mahinda Siriwardana, and Japan’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Akio Isomata, signed the Exchange of Notes.

Tetsuya Yamada, Chief Representative of JICA, signed the Bilateral Amendment Agreement on behalf of JICA.

These agreements are a key part of Sri Lanka’s external debt restructuring efforts and reflect progress in the policy discussions led by the Official Creditors Committee (OCC).

The Ministry of Finance Secretary expressed confidence that the remaining bilateral debt restructuring agreements will be completed soon.
